1958 Hunter
Helen Hunter served in various capacities before earning the distinction of Charlotte’s Woman of the Year. Her promotion of the well-being of children led her to write articles in defense of their proper education and health. She was Vice President of the North Carolina Family Life Council, Chairman of the North Carolina Mental Health Council, and President of the North Carolina Congress of Parents and Teachers. WBT commended her for her work in the community, along with her ability to raise a family at the same time. Her devotion to children and mental health earned her the honor of Woman of the Year in 1958.
